Our Southport office-based Case Manager Carl Bargh took on a special fundraising challenge of abseiling down Liverpool Cathedral to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice at the end of July. You are probably thinking that you’ve heard this type of story before, and you will have done.
The main difference with Carl’s story is that he is a double amputee. And he fears heights.
Carl wrote in a LinkedIn post about the experience:
“I won’t lie – it was one of, if not THE most terrifying things I have ever done in my life.
I was absolutely fine – right up until I stepped on to the platform. That’s when my bottle well and truly went South for the Winter.
I’m middle aged, overweight, and losing my hair, and I’m so, so terrified of heights it is unreal. What on earth was I thinking??
Nevertheless, I pushed my boundaries just about as far as I could (for this year), and I succeeded…!!!
I’ve raised some money for Claire House Children’s Hospice, and I couldn’t be happier.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated – your generosity and kindness is truly overwhelming. You’ve all made a difference to the lives of children and their families who need it the most.”
All at Anglia Research are so proud of Carl’s amazing efforts which have so far raised £1,500 for a local and hugely deserving charity, Claire House Children’s Hospice on Merseyside. He is nothing short of an inspiration to us all.
