As few as only 36% of UK adults have a will: Headline insight from the recent IRN Legal Wills and Probate Consumer report.

These reports do come and go but they can help keep up with evolving trends and shifting preferences of consumers in the will writing market. Whilst the research established that those with a will in place remains below the 50% mark, there are a few other surprising trends, such as:

➡️ A dip in solicitor usage, particularly among younger demographics.

➡️ Over one in ten are writing their own wills (or at least attempting to)

➡️ Want to know what the typical cost of a will is? The research found that this was £125

What has this all got to do with a Probate Genealogy firm? Well, a probate genealogist can of course assist in cases where there is a will AND where there is not.

𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹: we can trace missing beneficiaries that have been named in a will but can’t be located, whether that’s a more straightforward address check or research that goes international.

𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹l: We are extremely well-versed in dealing with intestate matters. We can offer probate practitioners help and assistance, whether that’s verifying a family tree and establishing entitlement, providing estate distribution guidance, or undertaking a free administrator search.

Please do get in contact if you’d like to know more – we are always happy to try and assist.
