If you wish to sign up as an individual then you will need to apply for Independent membership.

You will receive your own listing on our website and will be able to use our logo, (once your application has been approved), on your own stationery, email footer and social media.

As an independent, you will be accepted as a Member of the Best Foundation if you:

  • Complete the application form and pay the applicable fee
  • Hold a clear and valid DBS check
  • Submit ID so that the BEST foundation can complete an ID check
  • Satisfy the educational requirements
  • Confirm that you will adhere to the BEST Foundation’s Continuous Learning Requirements and the BEST Foundation Code of Conduct.

Educational Requirements for Members

You must provide evidence and documentation in support of one of the following routes to qualify for full membership:

Option 1 – STEP Membership

Full STEP members or those who are Associate members qualify for full membership of the Best Foundation. Please submit evidence of your qualification status with your application.

Option 2 – Legal Practitioners

Those with any of the following qualifications qualify for full membership of the Best Foundation:

  • Level 6 CILEx Practitioners
  • Solicitors
  • Members of the ICAEW
  • Members of the CLC
  • Law degree

Please submit evidence of your qualification status with your application.

Option 3 – Experience in the Industry

Those who can demonstrate relevant industry experience for a period of at least 2 years may qualify for membership of the Best Foundation.

Please submit a CV and a 750 word statement confirming the relevant industry experience you have.

Option 4 – Affiliated Training Providers

Those who have completed relevant training courses with an affiliated and accredited provider may qualify for membership of the Best Foundation.

To apply for full membership on this basis, complete the accredited training, and submit a CV and a 750 word statement confirming the relevant industry experience you have.

Option 5 – Current Members of the Institute of Professional Willwriters Society of Willwriters

If you have been a member of the IPW or the Society of WW for a minimum of 1 year, you can qualify for full membership of the Best Foundation.
